The
purpose of this organization shall be to support and promote
the interest and growth of The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical
Garden.
A
quote from Mary Brinegar, President, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical
Society
"The Women's Council is on the cutting edge of fundraising
and continues to develop projects of distinction. This organization
is courageous and innovative. "
"I
have been a member of this organization since 1988 and will
tell you this:
There is never a dull moment. The general meetings and luncheons
always feature some very interesting, informative and sometimes
theatrical speakers, delicious food and wonderful company."

A
Woman's Garden
funded and endowed by the Women's Council of the Dallas
Arboretum and Botanical Garden
As
the weather turns cooler and we feel like we just want to
get outside, go to the Dallas Arboretum. So much more is
going on! Do not miss A Woman's Garden, a garden totally
dedicated to women and their sensibilities. Funds are raised
by sales of naming features in A Woman's Garden and fundraisers
sponsored by the Women's Council of the Dallas Arboretum
and Botanical Garden: The Mad Hatter's Tea and Children's
Christmas Party.
"A
Woman's Garden - presented by the Women's Council of the
Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden - is distinguished
as the only public garden funded and fully endowed by a
women's organization.
"Phase I, which was completed and opened in 1997, was
funded and endowed for $2.3 million. Phase II was funded
for $1.6 million with an additional endowment of $1.5 million
for a total Phase II cost of $3.1 million.

"The
entire garden represents a gift of $4.5 million by the Women's
Council to the Arboretum, to the City of Dallas and to the
hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Arboretum each
year." Patricia Cowlishaw, Seventh Vice-President,
Women's Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden.
